Will Allen, Regional Soil Experts, 15Thousand Farmers Featured at Event for Urban and At-Home Growers of FoodJuly 21, 2010, Louisville, KY – Breaking New Grounds has announced the 2010 Soil Summit: Get the Dirt on Your Soil to educate and provide easy-to-follow tips to people who want to begin growing food in their yards and neighborhoods. Recently named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, Will Allen of Growing Power will join the summit via video conference to present and answer questions. The Soil Summit will take place, Saturday, Aug. 14, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the NIA Center, 2900 West Broadway. Click here to reserve your space at http://soilsummit.eventbrite.com. Allen will be joined on the agenda by Brownfields consultant Bob Perkins, AMEC Earth & Environmental Inc., soil specialist Wayne Long, Jefferson County Cooperative Extension and Chris Harrell, Brownfield Redevelopment Coordinator for the City of Indianapolis. Gary Heine from 15Thousand Farmers will join the speakers for a Q&A session at the end of the agenda, while the organization will be on hand to help people get started growing food themselves. "More and more people are growing their own food but many don't know anything about the soil they're planting in," said Sarah Fritschner, Executive Director, Breaking New Grounds.
